A special dine at home menu celebrating our 3 year anniversary here at the pub. It will feature Moorcock staple dishes from the restaurant and pub across the years (there are a lot to choose from), some served ready to eat, and some involving a little bit of preparation. 


Complete your evening with a wine pairing- with an interactive tasting video, featuring The Moorcock team, with a pack including a flavour wheel and the opporunity to make your own notes. 


We are also delivering to all HX and HD postcodes, plus OL13 and OL14 (Enquire for BD and WF). 

We are offering the menu boxes for collection, in a covid safe way (we will load them into your car boot) between 10am and 1pm, or delivery 9am-1pm, please select your preferred option at checkout.

And when we are not in a pandemic, we do this!

The Moorcock Inn has acres of beautiful moorland at its front door, and offers great views over the Ryburn Valley from the garden. Inside, it’s a cosy pub, with oak beams, wood-burning stoves and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Our 2-acre plot is slowly but surely being tamed to provide an organic kitchen garden, with select local small-holders providing much of the rest. The menu is ever-changing with the seasons and cooked over fire.


We offer an ever evolving seasonal menu, highlighting traditional homesteading techniques, cooking over fire and the sourcing of high-quality local, seasonal and wild ingredients. 

We use meat from a select few local small-holdings that mostly work with the Rare Breed Survival Trust. We purchase whole animals, some of which are reared specifically for us. We prefer mature animals (for example mutton over lamb) and dry-age and butcher the meat in-house. The fish and seafood we serve comes only from native waters, fished only from day boats, and caught using sustainable methods (never from trawlers). Some days, as a result of rough weather, some small boats don't go out to sea. On these days we simply serve less fish. Our vegetables are organic, sometimes home-grown and sometimes foraged. We serve wild mushrooms when we can, and cook whatever benefits from it, over wood and house made charcoal. 

Our plates are often not constructed as individual starters or main courses, therefore we encourage sharing a range of dishes. Although, of course this varies, a broad marker of how much to order is 4-5 plates per couple/ 8 plates for 4 guests. Please speak to us about this, we're always very happy to advise!  


Drinks are no afterthought here. We offer a keg selection of ever-changing quality craft beers, and four cask beers- of which two regularly rotate. Plus, a large selection of Belgian beers- particularly of the most food-friendly styles, and a few iconic names. 

Our wine list is relatively large, and largely natural, with wines chosen for their purity, freshness, balance and occasional quirkiness. It's a selection that is always growing and changing and we're always happy to help you to navigate it, either to find something familiar or try something new. It features some classic regions and grape varieties, and some lesser known also represented. They all have in common; being hand made by small producers, farmed organically or biodynamically, receive minimal intervention in the vineyard and have few or no added preservatives. 

We serve at least twelve wines by the glass- a few we daren't remove(!), but there is always plenty of opportunity to try something new.

A mention also, for alcohol-free drinks. We go way beyond offering sugary soft-drinks for non-drinkers, those taking a break, or designated drivers. Our alcohol-free craft beer selection is comprehensive, from lagers, to hazy IPAs, to coffee oatmeal stouts. Plus, we offer a range of alcohol-free aperitif, 'spirits' and digestifs. 


Introducing our new Friday afternoon opening hours (not yet in place... Date TBC!!)! 

Friday afternoons will be dedicated to brilliant wines by the glass- with various specials, the opportunity to chat to the team about wine, and the option to have smaller 75ml pours to taste through a wider selection. We will also serve bar-plates such as farmhouse cheese, fresh sourdough and house made salami, and you will be able to reserve a table between the hours of 12 and 4pm, by phone or email, to enjoy leisurely wine-filled afternoons.

We strongly recommend that reservations are made for food, as in this social distancing era, we must carefully control capacity indoors.

Card details will be required to make a reservation, and in the event of cancellation within 48 hours, a cancellation charge of £10pp will apply. This also includes reductions of party size.

** Please note that reservations are closed for an indefinite period of time. We will endeavour to let the world know when they are open again, but we do not expect that this will be until March 2021 at the earliest.
